RIP David Sanson

RIP David Sanson  

                                           

David lived in Majestic until he entered the U.S. Air Force in 1952, obtained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, and retired after 21 years with service in the Vietnam War.  He was awarded over 15 medals for his service in the military, including the Bronze Star medal.  

Mr. Sanson was later employed at Meyer Olds-GMC and White Motor Corporation and retired as a general manager-civil service of the U.S. Army Aviation Systems Command.  He received his bachelor’s degree from McKendree University and worked on his MBA at Southern Illinois University.  

Dave married Marcia Schmidt, and together they have five children, 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.  As a family, they were lifelong members of St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.  Dave served on the Diocesan School Committee, acted as treasurer of the Althoff Fathers and Friends Bingo Club, and was a committed leader of Boy Scouts for four decades.  He was the recipient of the Pelican and St. George Catholic religious awards, the Catholic Diocesan Hall of Honor award, and numerous awards for his corporate employment.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ethel, nee Blankenship, Sanson; a brother, Emerson “Bud” Sanson; two sisters, Gladys Bean and Rhoda Dotson; and in-laws, Andrew and Marie, nee Boyer, Schmidt. 

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Marcia Schmidt Sanson;
three daughters and two sons, Dr. Tracy Sanson and son-in-law, Dr. Kelly O’Keefe, of Tampa, FL,
    Terry Trout of Atlanta, GA,
    Gregory Sanson of Spokane, WA,
    Cynthia Huschle and son-in-law, Vincent Huschle, of Tolland, CT,
    and Marc Sanson of La Grande, OR;
10 grandchildren, Matthew Sanson, Garrett Sanson, Ryan (Ashley) Sanson,
    Lauren Trout, Lindsey (Chris) Hughes, 
    Corrine Huschle, Brandon Huschle, 
    Connor O’Keefe, Kiernan O’Keefe, and Clare O’Keefe;
and three great-grandchildren, Ryley Sanson, August Hughes, and Nolan David Sanson. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the School Sisters of Notre Dame or in the form of Masses at St. Peter’s Cathedral or St. Luke’s Catholic Church.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com. 

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. A prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. 

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Monsignor John Myler and Bishop Stanley Schlarman concelebrating.  Burial with full military honors will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
